INFLUENCE OF COMPONENTS OF STRAW COMPOSTES AND NPK FERTILIZERS ON GROWTH CHILI (CAPSICUM ANNUUM L.)

ABSTRAK

This study aims to determine the effect of combination of straw compost and NPK fertilizer on the growth of chili plants (Capsicum annuum L.). The research type used was field experiment research with complete randomized design (RAL) using 6 treatments and 5 replications, where the combination treatment of straw compost and NPK fertilizer were: (1) P0 = No fertilizer (control), (2) P1 = Compost (5) P4 = Straw compost + 75% NPK, and (6) P5 = 0 Compost straw + 100% NPK. Before doing the research, first prepared the tools and research materials. The tools used in this research are: Polybag, small shovel, Ruler, camera, bucket. The materials used in this research are: Chili seedlings, rice straw, EM4 (bio-activator compost straw), NPK fertilizer, water and soil. This research is divided into two stages. Stage (I) Composting of straw using EM4, duration of composting for 1 month. After finished compost, selected one of the best for later applied to the pepper plant. Stage (II) Test the effectiveness of straw compost and NPK fertilizer on pepper plant. The data of the research were analyzed by ANAVA one factor using SPSS 16 and continued by using Duncan test. The results showed that there was influence of combination of straw compost and NPK fertilizer to the growth of chili plants (Capsicum annuum L.). Chili plants given the combination treatment of straw compost fertilizer and 75% NPK fertilizer showed the best growth compared to other treatments, the application of straw compost fertilizer was able to substitute NPK fertilizer by 25%.
